Green, light green, and red charts for your progress are merely a tool to better understanding where you are and what you (and your supervisor) need to focus on.
Hours Based Apprenticeship
Dark green hours are all hours that have been approved by your supervisor.
Light green hours have been submitted but are awaiting approval by your supervisor. If it's been a while, feel free to bring it up in-person. We've already sent them a reminder or two at this point.
Red hours are where you would be if you were keeping exactly with the pace expected from your start/end dates and your requirements. If you see red on your total hours, it either means you are a bit behind the expected timeline or we need to update your start/end dates. If you see red on your requirements, you may simply not be focusing on that skill yet. Work with your supervisor to make sure you balance out and chip away at the red where you can. If you want more info, you can read how you can best make use of our charts.
Gray represents the time that has yet to be completed in the apprenticeship. The total width of the colored charts is the expected duration of where the apprentice is in their program, unless you're ahead of where you'd be expected to be at this point. For example, if the apprentice is in a 4 year program and 1 year in, the width of all the colored charts is 25% of the chart (unless the apprentice has more hours completed than necessary). If they're 2 years in, the width would be roughly 50% of the chart.
Competency Based Apprenticeship
Everything for the colors on the hour charts applies here as well, but rather than tracking expected or completed hours, it's expected or completed skills.
Yes / No Competency Tracking
For competency-based programs that track skills as yes/no questions, each skill is equivalent to 1. If you have 3 skills and complete 1, you'll have 1 of 3 skills completed.
If you're 1/3rd of the way through your program but have not completed a skill in that area, you'd see red for 33% of the chart representing the expected completion of 1 skill in that area.
Multiple Choice Competency Tracking
For competency-based programs that track skills based on multiple choice questions, each answer option for a question is assigned a value in the evaluation template defined under the occupation:
That value determines the amount of progress displayed for completed skills compared to the maximum value. If the maximum value of all options for that question is 4, and the apprentice has been approved as "Introduced" for that skill, they're given credit for completing 25% or 1/4th of that skill.
